Jacob Gober assists companies with patent matters, including building strategic patent portfolios, assessing patent-related risks, and enforcing and defending patent rights.
Jake regularly advises companies and investors in diligence matters, assessing patent portfolio strength, ownership, freedom-to-operate considerations, competitive positioning, and litigation risk in connection with financings, acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic transactions.
Jake has substantial experience in post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has represented petitioners challenging patent claims and patent owners defending high-value patent assets. Jake’s experience also includes USPTO appeals and supporting district court litigation involving technically complex disputes.
With a focus on the medical device, digital health, and biotechnology fields, Jake’s areas of experience include anatomical modeling technologies, digital therapeutics, intracardiac echocardiography, intravascular lithotripsy, microfluidics, neurostimulation, orthopedics, ophthalmology, pelvic health, respiratory care, structural heart implants, surgical robotics, and thrombectomy systems. Jake also represents clients in the clean energy, food science, and sports technology industries.
