Helena Burns

Helena focuses on patent, trademark, trade dress, and trade secret litigation.

Helena Burns assists clients with complex IP disputes before federal courts and the International Trade Commission. Her experience spans all phases of litigation, from pretrial discovery through trial. 

Helena has worked with clients across a range of technologies, including control systems, data centers, software systems, machine learning, cloud computing, and beverage containers. She has helped secure wins in contested motions, claim construction disputes, and proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Helena earned her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where she served as staff editor on the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal and Journal of Law and Technology at Texas. In 2023, she was a summer associate for the firm’s Patent Litigation practice. In 2022, she served as a judicial intern for the Hon. Alan D Albright of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Prior to her legal career, Helena worked in strategic communications, advising clients on M&A, investor relations, government affairs, data privacy, and other matters.
