Elizabeth (Betsy) Holland is a trusted adviser who guides clients through employment diligence in M&A, focusing on identifying integration risks and developing post-closing employment compliance strategies. She regularly counsels on executive and employment compensation and equity arrangements, ensuring clients are equipped to address compensation structures and regulatory requirements throughout transactional processes.
Betsy has experience in employment litigation, including wage-and-hour class and collective actions, Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act disputes, and single-plaintiff cases. She is skilled in developing and analyzing damages models in class-action matters, such as cases involving off-the-clock work, meal- and rest-break violations, expense reimbursement, and other wage-and-hour compliance issues.
Betsy advises employers on the implementation of AI and automated decision-making tools in the workplace, conducts pay equity audits, develops workplace policies, and mitigates risk. She represents clients in audits and investigations before federal and state employment agencies.
Before her law career, Betsy managed regulatory compliance in the cannabis industry. She continues to counsel clients in the cannabis sector, as well as other newly regulated industries.
A graduate of Stanford Law School, Betsy served as managing editor of the Stanford Law & Policy Review. While in law school, she also participated in Women of Stanford Law, the Organizations and Transactions Clinic, and the Stanford Law Association.
